The offering is a weekly opportunity for our members and regular attendees to give tithes and gifts support the ministry of East Fairview Church.  Please record your visit in the black attendance folder located in your row. 

The church nursery (which is available for children up to age 4) is located in the main hallway, past the restrooms, on the left.  Please feel free to entrust your children to us for this hour.Children’s bulletins and other resources are available on the Children’s shelf in the back corner of the sanctuary.

There will be a special Congregational Business Meeting TODAY immediately following the worship service to discuss and decide whether to continue with one worship service or return to two.  Please make plans to attend this very important meeting!  We truly value your opinion and your vote! 

Brethren Village’s 21st Annual Golf Tournament will be held on September 8, 2011.  There are pamphlets available at the Welcome Desk with more information. 

We are in need of help to create our newest pictorial directory!  If you would like to help with design, scheduling appointments, or hosting photo days, please contact Jessica Gibble.  Your help will be greatly appreciated!

Brethren Housing Association, a Christian ministry in the city of Harrisburg providing housing and supportive services to homeless families, is hiring a Program Director. The Program Director serves a dual role: providing direct case management to program participants as well as program oversight and supervision of other program staff. The ultimate goal is running thriving programs through which

homeless individuals and families can achieve greater stability and self-sufficiency. More information, including instructions to apply, are available at www.bha-pa.org/jobs

 

Teen Central Youth Center is holding fundraiser breakfast on Saturday, September 10th from 7:00am to 9:30am at Teen Central (15 S. Wolf St., Manheim) This will be an all you care to eat breakfast. Cost of meal is by donation.No tickets needed. 

We are looking for volunteers to be added to the rotation as greeters. If you are interested in helping this way, please contact Nancy Auker. Thank you!

Church picnic!

The picnic will be held in the pavilion on August 27th, at 4:30pm. This year we will be enjoying barbeque chicken by Dennis Peters and homemade sides & desserts by our members. The Dunk Tank will be present again. Our lucky dunkers include: Greg Berkey, Steve Petrosky, Matt Fahnestock, and Ryan Dunlevy!  And of course it just wouldn’t be complete without a water balloon fight to end the evening! There is a sign up sheet available at the Welcome Desk.  If you plan to attend, PLEASE SIGN UP By August 19th so that we know how much chicken BBQ to order.  Last names beginning with A-M are asked to bring a dessert, and N-Z are asked to bring a hot or cold side dish.

Senior Adult Activity

·         Hot dogs and hamburgers provided. Please bring a dish to share, but don’t let this stop you from coming!  Enjoy good food and especially good fellowship!  Please bring a lawn chair also.

·         Today is the last day to sign up!

Good News!  Thanks to Creekside Construction and many volunteers, the new gym roof is finished.  A job well done!  So far, we have collected $3, 005 to help pay for the new roof.  If you would like to give towards this project, donations should be designated for the new roof or building fund.  “Thank you” to everyone involved!  

If you like to run or walk something called 5K's, then keep reading. The Elizabethtown COB is having a benefit run/walk on September 10th. The Young Center for Anabaptist and Pietist Studies at Elizabethtown College presents “The Power of Forgiveness: Lessons from Nickel Mines,” a one-day conference on Thursday, September 22, 2011. The conference, which is broadly oriented to anyone interested in the process, challenge, and potential of forgiveness, will use the tragedy at Nickel Mines as a springboard to explore the meaning of Christian forgiveness in a wider context. If you have any professional dress clothes you would like to donate to job seekers, please bring them to church this month. We will collect them and donate them to charities that outfit people in need of dress clothes for work. This is part of our summer of donating. We collected coats, shoes and now professional clothes for people in need.


 

The Spiritual Nurture Team is looking for persons interested in providing transportation for those in our congregation who no longer are able to drive to worship on Sundays, or for those who would appreciate a ride to church if the weather is an issue for them. We are envisioning a rotational schedule based upon needs and availability of drivers. There are no special skills or training needed, just a willing spirit and a working vehicle.  If you are willing to help with this task, please contact the church office and let the secretary know.
