Happy Birthday to...Lori Dietz, Jessica Gibble, Evelyn Weaver, Chuck Dietz, Crystal Gibble, Jason
Breitigan, Esther Diffenderfer, Owen Eberly, and Dick Hosler.
Advent Conspiracy…is the theme of our sermon series for this year’s season of advent. Hopefully our time together will help us focus our hearts on Christ as we prepare to celebrate his birthday. The focus of next week’s message is…
God’s gift to us was a relationship built on love. So it’s no wonder why we’re drawn to the idea that Christmas should be a time to love our friends and family in the most memorable ways possible. Time is the real gift Christmas offers us, and no matter how hard we look, it can’t be found at the mall. Time to make a gift that turns into the next family heirloom. Time to write mom a letter. Time to take the kids sledding. Time to bake really good cookies and sing really bad Christmas carols. Time to make love visible through relational giving. Sounds a lot better than getting a sweater two sizes too big, right?
*Next week’s focus is “Worship Fully…Wonder!”
Love well…Give wells!
People are dying from the lack of clean water. In fact, it’s the leading cause of death in under resourced countries. 1.8 million people die every year from water born illnesses. That includes 3,900 children every day. The solution to this problem is directly beneath our feet. Drilling a fresh water well is a relatively inexpensive, yet permanent solution to this epidemic. $10 will give a child clean water for life. That’s not an estimate. It’s a fact. And here’s another fact: solving this water problem once and for all will cost about $10 billion. Not bad considering Americans spent $450 billion on Christmas last year. Our hope is that, by celebrating Christ in a new way at Christmas, the church can serve as the leading movement behind ending the water crisis once and for all. *Donations towards the “Clean Water” project may be given on December 12th, 19th, 24th or 26th.
(Information about giving the gift of clean water is available on the table near the office area.)

Steven Reschly presents “This Tractor for Hire: Enlisting Pacifist Farmers and Black Farmers during World War II” on Tuesday, Dec. 7, 7:00 p.m., at Elizabethtown College’s Young Center for Anabaptist and Pietist Studies. Reschly will discuss “The Farmer at War,” a nine-minute film distributed during WWII by the U. S. War Activities Committee. The main focus is on Lancaster Countian Moses Zimmerman, a plain farmer, and the central line of the movie is “And thus Zimmerman cooperates.” Even the historic peace churches were part of the warring nation, along with black farmers, women, doctors, and college students.
